Jon "Bones" Jones Looking for Title Contention

Okay fight fans, get ready for another amazing fight card brought to you by the UFC. Sunday August 1st 2010, live from the San Diego Sports Arena, free on Versus. UFC on Versus 2 headlines Jon “Bones” Jones and Vladimir “The Janitor” Matyushenko in a light heavyweight showdown.
Jon Jones holds a professional record of 10 wins and 1 loss. Jones’s only loss came at The Ultimate Fighter Heavyweights Finale against Matt Hamill. Jones has impressive wins over Stephan Bonner (unanimous decision), Jake O’Brien (submission round 2) and most recently Brandon Vera (TKO round 1). Jones is a very solid fighter, very diverse and can knock his opponent out or submit them. With a win against Matyushenko, Jon “Bones” Jones could find himself among the elite in a stacked light heavyweight division.
His opponent, Vladimir “The Janitor” Matyushenko (24-4), is an MMA journeyman who is coming off two straight decision victories in the UFC (Split decision vs Eliot Marshall and unanimous decision vs Igor Pokrajac. Matyushenko is trying to reestablish himself in the UFC and can do so with a victory over Jones.
Prediction:
Jones should be able to use his long reach and
power to his advantage.

Also on the UFC on Versus 2 card, “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” Mark Munoz (8-1) vs Yushin “Thunker” Okami (25-5). Munoz is coming off back to back TKO victories over Kendall Grove and Ryan Jensen. Okami is fighting off of a TKO victory over Lucio Linhares after losing to number one middleweight contender Chael Sonnen.
Prediction:
Both fighters can be unpredictable and powerful.

John “Doomsday” Howard takes on Jake Ellenberger in the welterweight division. Howard(14-4) is on a four fight win streak with the UFC and wants to continue his winning ways against Ellenberger(22-5) who has recently notched a victory over Mike Pyle.
Prediction:
I believe Howard can outlast Ellenberger as long as he stays patient.

The final fight on the main card for UFC on Versus 2 is a lightweight battle between Tyson Griffin(14-3) and Takanori “The Fireball Kid” Gomi(31-6). Griffin is trying to get back to his winning ways after a split decision loss to Evan Dunham at UFC 115. The highly experienced Gomi is also coming off of a loss, losing to Kenny Florian by rear naked choke at UFC Fight Night 21.
Prediction:
Both fighters are looking to get back in the W column.
